    This project aims at providing a systematic and comprehensive attempt in documenting the history of public health in Hong Kong from the 1840s to 1980 based on archival materials and government records. The team of investigators will collect and analyze primary sources and key documents in the following areas: 1) changing government policies towards public health, 2) history of medical institutions, ranging from hospitals to dispensaries, 3) medical education, 4) nursing, 5) dental health, 6) allied health, 7) biographical sketches of leading medical practitioners, 8) changing notions of health, and 9) outbreaks of major epidemics and social consequences.
