    To inform the social work practice with women in Hong Kong, the study aims to study the relationship of economic development and family status of women in Hong Kong. It examines the family structures in Hong Kong and the possible different situations of women in relation to the different family structures. Measuring the family structure also helps to illuminate the extent of the traditional patriarchal values persists in Hong Kong Chinese families. Another focus of the study is exploring the interplay of different cultural and structural factors, which associate with different employment patterns of women in Hong Kong, as well as the relationship of the employment patterns with women.s well being in terms of their family status.
